CONVERSATION QUESTIONS

The below questions serve as a guide to conversation.  Select those which you feel will spark conversation, depth and growth in understanding.

  1. What do you think about these misinterpretations of the Word?  Have you ever witnessed others living into these misinterpretations?  (Choose 1 or 2 to discuss)
    • “Jesus took a beating so I guess I’m supposed to as well.”
    • “They must just be my cross to bear.” Translation - “I’m just supposed to accept the violence and offence that you bring into my life.”
    • “If someone slaps you on the cheek, offer them the other cheek also.”
    • “Just walk in love.” Translation - Just take anything anyone chooses to dish out at you.
  2. What do you think the value of pausing and praying is during a stressful or anxious moment?
  3. How do you calm down?
  4. How do boundaries help us to be who God created us to be?
  5. How do you think Jesus’ life could have been different without him knowing who He was and maintaining healthy boundaries?
  6. Roundtable!  What were your take-aways tonight?

PRAYER

(Encourage others to pray, gaining confidence in public prayer in a safe environment)

EXAMPLE PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, thank you for this time together.  Thank you for the example that you set for us, dear Jesus, in knowing who you were and setting clear boundaries that allowed for you to operate fully into who you were created to be.  May we more fully understand this of ourselves as well, honoring the amazing creation we are.  In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
