This semester in Group focuses on the topic of The Beauty of Spiritual Languages.
CONVERSATION QUESTIONS
The below questions serve as a guide to conversation. Select those which you feel will spark conversation, depth and growth in understanding.
Spiritual things are beautiful but mystical, and it takes trust to lean into them. Why do you think its difficult to lean into things we don’t understand about God?
If someone is outgoing before receiving their spiritual language, they will be outgoing after; if they are eccentric before, they will be eccentric afterwards; if they lack social graces before, they will lack social graces after. Do some fear this experience/gift will make them lose control of healthy social graces? Will it make them be excessive and “radical?” Is this possibly a reason some people repress desires for all the Holy Spirit has for them, including speaking in tongues?
Because we are limited in our knowledge of circumstances, we don’t always know how to pray for things as we would like. The Bible says the Holy Spirit helps us to pray aligned with the Father’s will, even when we don’t know how to pray as we ought. How beneficial is it to speak in tongues, or praying in God’s will and authority, when we don’t yet know all the circumstances we are praying over?
Fear compels us to express “control issues.” When we think we are in control, we feel safe. The Holy Spirit simply wants to lead us and help us, not dominate us. Share some areas of your life that you struggle with to surrender to His leadership? If you have a story of true surrender, and the amazing impact it had on your heart and circumstances, share it with the Group.
PRAYER
(Encourage others to pray, gaining confidence in public prayer in a safe environment)
EXAMPLE PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for this opportunity to grow together and learn about the Holy Spirit. May we consider this week your heart as to why you gave Him to us, to help us fulfill our assignments. May we hear you in the soft whisper in our hearts, helping us to develop healthy attachment, that we may become all you intend us to be, in faith and confidence. All for your kingdom, precious Jesus. We love you. Amen.
