GROUP SESSION VIDEO
This semester in Group focuses on the topic of The Beauty of Spiritual Languages.
CONVERSATION QUESTIONS
The below questions serve as a guide to conversation. Select those which you feel will spark conversation, depth and growth in understanding.
People often have been told that speaking in tongues is not for everyone, that it had passed away. Do you know people that have heard that it wasn’t a blessing for everyone? How has this session’s teaching helped you process the possibility that this is a blessing, or devotional gift, God has provided for every believer?
When people ask for the devotional gift, and they don’t know how to activate it, they often feel spiritual shame (not being spiritual enough). Have you ever felt this way? How ARE you processing through that, or how DID you process through it?
Should we ask for this devotional gift, and if we fail to experience it, then just leave it in God’s hands; OR, should we pursue the gift as a Biblical “absolute” and grow in our own activations of the blessing?
It was clarified that the devotional gift of speaking in “unknown tongues” does not automatically cause spiritual fruit in our lives. Have you known someone who said they were “filled with the Spirit,” and even spoke in “unknown tongues,” yet they lived very ungodly and emotionally unhealthy lives? Did that cause confusion for you regarding the Holy Spirit?
We learned that speaking in “unknown tongues” doesn’t make us more spiritual than someone else. However, it was stated that “being filled with the Spirit” and speaking in “unknown tongues” does make us better than our previous selves. How does that statement hit your heart?
PRAYER
(Encourage others to pray, gaining confidence in public prayer in a safe environment)
EXAMPLE PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for this opportunity to grow together and learn about the Holy Spirit. May we consider this week your heart as to why you gave Him to us, to help us fulfill our assignments. May we hear you in the soft whisper in our hearts, helping us to develop healthy attachment, that we may become all you intend us to be, in faith and confidence. All for your kingdom, precious Jesus. We love you. Amen.
