07 - WHAT IS IT ACTUALLY LIKE TO "SPEAK IN TONGUES?"

ICE BREAKER / GAME

If there were 6 more hours in the day, how would you spend them?

OPENING PRAYER

PRAYER EXAMPLE:  Heavenly Father, thank you for this opportunity to grow together and learn about the Holy Spirit.  Open our hearts to receive all that you have for us, give us your wisdom and understanding.  We ask for your protection and guidance this week and that we continue to grow together as a group.  In Jesus Name, Amen

GROUP SESSION VIDEO

This semester in Group focuses on the topic of The Beauty of Spiritual Languages.

CONVERSATION QUESTIONS

The below questions serve as a guide to conversation. Select those which you feel will spark conversation, depth and growth in understanding.

  1. It can be difficult for many people to receive the Holy Spirit, simply because we often try to figure Him out with our natural understanding. Have you experienced this in your life?

  2. Monte shared the story of his grandson refusing ice cream because he didn’t know what it was but when he finally tasted it, he wanted more. Could approaching God with a spiritual mind versus a natural mind cause us to “want more” of Him?

  3. Have you ever questioned that a prompting, or other communication, was from the Holy Spirit because it seemed too simple, or too natural? Have you ever thought you were “making something up” in your imagination?

  4. Monte had a great visual of the Holy Spirit in the story of the sailboat. Have you had any experiences in God, where you had to lift your “faith sail” to activate what is already there? Also, share what would have been your experience had you not lifted the “faith sail,”

PRAYER

(Encourage others to pray, gaining confidence in public prayer in a safe environment)

EXAMPLE PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, thank you for this opportunity to grow together and learn about the Holy Spirit. May we consider this week your heart as to why you gave Him to us, to help us fulfill our assignments. May we hear you in the soft whisper in our hearts, helping us to develop healthy attachment, that we may become all you intend us to be, in faith and confidence. All for your kingdom, precious Jesus.  We love you.  Amen.
